aespa is a South Korean girl group formed by SM Entertainment. They made their debut on November 17, 2020, with their single “Black Mamba.” The group consists of four members: Karina, Giselle, Winter, and Ningning.
Karina, whose full name is Yoo Ji-min, was born on April 11, 2000, and she serves as the leader, main dancer, and lead vocalist of the group. Giselle, whose full name is Uchinaga Aeri, was born on October 30, 2000, and she is the main rapper and vocalist. Winter, whose full name is Kim Min-jeong, was born on January 1, 2001, and she is the main vocalist. Ningning, whose full name is Ning Yizhuo, was born on October 23, 2002, and she is the lead vocalist.
aespa is known for their unique concept of having virtual counterparts called “ae” characters, which are created using artificial intelligence technology. The ae characters, named æ-Karina, æ-Giselle, æ-Winter, and æ-Ningning, interact with the real members in various multimedia contents, blurring the line between the real and virtual worlds.
Since their debut, aespa has gained popularity for their energetic performances, catchy songs, and visually stunning music videos. They have released several successful singles, including “Next Level” and “Forever,” and have been recognized with various awards and nominations in the Korean music industry.
